ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to outline the methodology that was adopted to investigate student perspectives on English-Medium Instruction at the University of Padova. In order to do so, the chapter will first explain the reason why a mixed-methods orientation was applied to case study research and will then describe the main sources of data collection (a questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, and a focus group) that formed the qualitative and quantitative dimensions of the study. After illustrating how the data analysis was conducted, the chapter will provide a brief overview of the main themes that were deemed meaningful descriptors of the phenomenon under scrutiny and will then conclude with a description of the students who participated in the study.
