ABSTRACT

OxyContin is a highly addictive opioid that was one of the first to hit the market. Aggressive marketing campaigns and internal lobbying from Purdue Pharma led to establishing it as one of the market leaders. It has now been proven that executive management purposefully misinformed sales reps, doctors, and pharmacists in an attempt to establish OxyContin’s market dominance. The actions of the company led to the deaths of thousands of people who developed an opioid addiction. All of these actions were executed in the name of higher profits.
