ABSTRACT

“The EdTech of People and Places” combines research, sociopolitical thought and futures thinking to the field of educational technology. This chapter explores the people and places that make up educational technology futures. It examines signs, signals, patterns and current-day truths to propose scenarios of possible futures. This futures thinking is couched within the present as a binocular view into the future of educational technology. The topics covered include the billion-dollar educational technology industry, COVID-19 the online game changer, public schools, school use of educational technology, teachers, educational television, the future professor, the future of institutions of higher education and students.
