ABSTRACT

When we identify the ways in which we are unintentionally contributing to the problems, we have a chance to do something about them. It also expands our consciousness and develops social sensitivity. The tension of misalignment between our self-image and the consequences of our decisions is a powerful force in moving us to action. The movement toward taking action must be a goal in sustainability education, and we have here a compelling stimulus to initiate movement among students: The simple inquiry into what is each person's contribution to the problems that concern us deeply.
