ABSTRACT

Considering the immediate or short-term impact of a decision we are addressing comes naturally to us. The sooner the feedback information arrives, the more likely it will influence our future actions.

Regrettably, today we are witnessing the price of ecosystem damage due to the lack of a long-term perspective. We can read in newspapers how doing things right—efficiently—does not mean we are doing the right things—effectively. In short, short-term thinking has fallen far short of making our lives better. How can we develop this habit of mind with our students?
