ABSTRACT

Given today’s political and economic climate, small underfunded community-embedded museums and cultural centers should be highlighted as both important and essential. These organizations have often wished to emulate their larger and better-funded object-rich cousins, but they can gain a well-deserved spotlight by concentrating on the current needs of their immediate communities and inviting other organizations to partner in delivering social services within their facilities. By doing so, they can become models of usefulness that merit emulation by their larger cousins.
