ABSTRACT
This chapter maps the still-evolving theoretical landscape associated with regionalism and regional institution-building. It outlines some of the more influential approaches of integration and regionalism before discussing conceptual, theoretical and methodological issues associated with exercises in comparative regionalism. It concludes by outlining a framework that will guide the analysis in the rest of the book.
