ABSTRACT

The theme of physical violence is introduced, as a multifaceted component that interacts with the non-violent tactics of coercive control. Case studies help to illuminate the interactions between the non-violent tactics of coercive control and physical violence as the subthemes of Non-fatal Strangulation and Sexual Abuse emerge. Familicide, the killing of multiple family members by and intimate partner homicide (IPH) offender, is discussed and explained through case studies, as well as the concept of the family annihilator. Detailed case studies help to explain the issues in these important cases whereby the intimate partner violence (IPV) victims attempted to protect themselves and their children but, eventually, were unsuccessful. The non-violent coercive control tactics, as well as the physical violence, are detailed for the reader to help exemplify the difficulties with these cases. Judicial Terrorism® is detailed through a case study in which the judicial system was utilized as a forum for the deployment of the non-violent tactics of coercive control.
