ABSTRACT

Implications for this study are discussed, including its limitations and future research suggestions. A brief review of the book is provided, including the highlights of the non-violent tactics of coercive control that help to answer some of the research questions for this study. The limitations of this study are discussed in detail, including jurisdictional public records limitations that affect richness of data. Alternatives for adding to the data collected, to enhance future research, are suggested, as well as other future research proposals. Studies that review the timing of intimate partner homicide (IPH) in comparison to reporting of intimate partner violence (IPV), whether to law enforcement or the court, are suggested as well as more vigorous studies regarding IPH and intimate partner homicide-suicide (IPHS). Additionally, studies regarding an IPV victim's ability to obtain and maintain an injunction for protection and the reasons why they are denied or dismissed are suggested due to the details of the findings from this study, as are other studies regarding injunctions for protection. And studies on sentencing of IPV and IPH offenders are recommended due to the outcomes from this study, including IPHS cases that do not receive same empirical attention.
