ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book examines how the Council’s fight against international terrorism has evolved throughout the decades. It describes not only the body’s fight and its evolution but also how this fight performs, maintains, and reproduces global identities and hegemonies. The book focuses on the global dispositif of counter-terrorism and its evolution; the global hegemonies, power and identities shaping the international community; and the Council as a central body for the performance and reproduction of the global dispositif. It explores the Council too performed, produced, and reproduced this shift in discourses and practices. The book argues that the international community does not agree on the meaning of terrorism, the focus of the dispositif, and the legitimacy of certain kinds of political violence.
