ABSTRACT

Chapter 8 discusses the nuts and bolts of training a psychometrist and provides specific topics to review at each point of training. While one’s instinct may be to have psychometrists involved in observation of clients from the first day they step on-site, arguments are made for starting with initial readings and conversations around roles and expectations, ethics, confidentiality, and test security. Training then moves to manual review, test administration, and scoring. The chapter ends with a discussion around training in behavioral observations and shares key tips and tricks from psychometrists already working in the field.
