ABSTRACT

Vancouver is a city in the British Columbia Province of Canada. It has a particular landscape given by mountains on one side and sea on the other, all surrounded by a good balance between natural, built environment. The on-site visits – according to the phase of the Healthy Place Design method – confirm the Coal Harbour area in its whole as the place of analysis. In particular, Coal Harbour starts at Canada Place to the east and ends at the beginning of Stanley Park to the west; it is bordered to the north by Burrard Inlet and to the south by West Georgia Street. Coal Harbour is a pedestrian area. Observations were carried out both during the week and weekends; the data which were collected are synthetized in the following. The places are of very good quality and materials and the spaces devoted to all the activities are suitable, giving the general perception of a healthy, liveable, happy place.
