ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the authors main message of what a planetary genre de vie might look like through the multitude of voices and stories shared. After moving to the Netherlands the author resumes camping. In this chapter the author proposes to develop earthly attachments in recognition of the ever ongoing earthly entanglements. Thereby the book draws largely on mixed background of being born and raised in Iceland, but with relations and ties to the Netherlands. It says that as opposed to the Netherlands, Iceland was only recently settled and the whole history of settlement has largely been dictated by the terms of nature on a relatively hostile, sub-Arctic volcanic island in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. It is argued that rather than looking inwards and outwards through the social media mediated screen, there is a need to nurture a sense of ourselves as one with this planet.
