ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the changing mindsets of humanity with regard to earth and society. It says that in brief, thinking the becomings of earth and society together might help probe the richly layered formations inherited, marginalized or as yet unactualized geosocial possibilities murmuring within them.Not only are nature's raw materials not 'freely available for use,' but the personal liberties taken in using them is not leading to a brighter future, but one of climatic emergency. It is argued that only an appreciation of current precarity as an earthwide condition allows notice this-the situation of the world. The chapter says that it can only speculate as to the impact of US business and cultural hegemony and the ways in which movies and series emanating from the Hollywood 'dream factory' are directing aspirations, dreams and visions of the future. It is given to a few to be the guardians of the story, to protect the treasures that touch the hearts of people.
