ABSTRACT
This chapter examines four categories of people who are involved in any information integrity case. The investigators (or hunters) are people who actively look for information problems, either because it is their job or because they feel motivated to correct the public record. The judges are those who must (sometimes unwillingly) decide whether a violation of rules and guidelines has occurred, and what the consequences should be. The violators themselves are important actors for understanding the process, especially if they were unaware of their violation. And finally the victims, who can be a wide range of people from those who die due to false information to those who suffer from their own mistakes.
