Once you’ve developed the perfect script, the next step is to raise money, one way or another. And that’s always easier if you’re not alone. Despite what you may have heard about auteur theory, or how filmmakers are troubled artists, it’s a well-worn truism that film is a collaborative medium. You will need a team of people all working together in perfect harmony to bring to life a unified vision. Or at least it’s collaborative until some festival in the Caribbean only pays airfare for one director to present the film. Grab the ticket, wave goodbye to your embittered collaborators and apply sunscreen!
