ABSTRACT

This chapter brings together the learning from earlier chapters, distilling it into four pillars which support effectiveness. The first of these is infrastructure, the fabric of the organisation. Infrastructure comprises all the resources at the organisation’s disposal. The second is culture. A positive culture encourages effectiveness. The third is innovation and risk. Without innovation and appropriate risk- taking the organisation will stagnate. The final pillar is using the right tools in the right way at the right time. Underpinning these pillars is the foundation of changing the thinking, encouraging all stakeholders to take a longer term perspective and to focus on outcomes and benefits.
