ABSTRACT

The biggest and boldest initiative from the President Obama administration is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (AFA), also known as Obamacare, signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. The proposed health care reforms included cost and coverage for obesity, prevention and treatment of chronic disease, incentives that reward more preventative care, fraud, the use of imagining devices, and many other initiatives. The passage of the American Healthcare Act in 2017 dramatically reduced Medicaid spending and eliminated the coverage mandate, which jeopardized coverage for many previously uninsured African Americans. The Obama administration was committed to highlighting the problems surrounding all aspects of the criminal justice system, and especially reform in federal prisons. President Barack Obama’s concerns included, among many others, providing economic and educational opportunities, improvement in health care coverage, Civil Rights initiatives, and making efforts to ensure that the criminal justice system is fair to all citizens.
