ABSTRACT

There are many instances when researchers are interested in determining either 1) how two or more variables are associated or related to one another, or 2) how a change in one variable or variables influences or moves with a change in another variable. The statistical analysis tools used most often in these circumstances are correlation analysis and regression analysis. Identifying and measuring the strength and direction of relationships is, in fact, one of the most fundamental tasks of data analysis in political science research. This chapter provides guidance in how to produce the tests and interpret the results.
