ABSTRACT

Benjamin Lowy is an American photographer, known for his work in war zones. He was a student in 2001 when he documented the second intifada in the West Bank and Gaza, and, at age twenty-three, was one of the youngest professionals to cover the Iraq War. Lowy distinguished himself through his iPhone photography and has received awards from World Press Photo, the International Center of Photography (Infinity Award for Photojournalism), and the Pictures of the Year International competition. This chapter presents an interview of Benjamin Lowry. In the interview, he describes the world of conflict photography and discusses his experience in taking some of the photographs covering incidents in Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
