ABSTRACT

Until this point in the book my voice has been the dominant one regarding the concepts, understandings and interpretations outlined and explored concerning the state of the photographic medium at this point of its history. By now you will also be aware of my belief in the processes I have suggested in the development of a personal visual language, but I am aware that you may well want to challenge or question some or all of the assertions that I have made. I embrace discussion and debate so what follows is a conversation between myself and photographer Derek Hudson concerning many of the issues that have been addressed in the previous chapters. I chose to speak with Derek as we have engaged with these issues previously on Twitter and not always agreed, although we have always respected each other's positions.
