ABSTRACT

If you want to recreate the look of chemical toners very accurately it is worth investing in one of the specialist plug-ins for Photoshop that handle a range of toning ‘looks’. Try before you buy. Some produce crude and garish results quite unlike the real thing. If you use raw files and Adobe Camera Raw or Adobe Lightroom there are a good number of free presets that imitate the look of conventional toners. The current best choice would be PhotoWiz B/WStyler with its accurate recreation of the looks of over 20 major toners/alternative processes, each of which can be fine-tuned to suit.
