ABSTRACT

Mounting depends on how and where the print is to be used. Surface mounting can be done with a traditional hot-press and a dry-mount tissue and a tacking iron. The mounting tissue is trimmed to the print size and melts to adhere the print to the mounting board. Images printed on to canvas can then be stretched on supports to take on the look of an artist’s canvas – though popular in social photography, this method of presentation is rarely seen in the fine-art market. If the print is to be framed, a mat is used to keep the print off the glass. Cleanliness is important when framing. Clean the frame glass on both sides with household glass cleaner and allow to dry thoroughly before adding the matted print and sealing the frame. The pre-cut card mounts supplied with ready-made frames will discolour or damage the readers' prints surprisingly quickly.
