ABSTRACT

Retouching photographs dates back almost a hundred years, when large plates made it easy for an army of pencil and ink artists to improve portraits. Simply select the Clone Stamp tool, set it to around 18 per cent opacity with the large feathered brush, and sweep up from the areas that have texture into the areas that don't. These usually allow RAW or TIFF files to be loaded and the colour temperature reset to one where the colour cast is negated. With this, it is easy to pick out the colour cast simply click on the opposite colour in the display to counteract it. This isn't recommended as an option for selecting the skin tones, but if you want to replace a background colour, such as in a room or a car, then it can be useful.
