ABSTRACT

Architectural photography deals with all aspects of imagery of the built environment. It is a large enough specialism to have its own subgroups within professional bodies, such as the Architectural Photography Speciality Group of the American Society of Media Photographers. The architectural practice commissioning the photography will want to show the concept behind their building what makes it different and what makes it special as they will already have site record photography. The built environment is also people and there may be a need to show how people interact with the newly created architectural space. Architectural photography is a demanding field of work as it requires methodical and possibly long-term planning, the ability to liaise and co-operate with professionals in another field, as well as being able to bring a unique and personal style that will show the building at its very best.
