Social photography is the catch-all title for the photography of people, whether singly or in groups. Wedding photography often looked more like yearbook photography, with wedding albums containing picture after picture of formal groups with the mood only lightening up for one or two pictures. Wedding photography began to shake itself loose from the formality it once had through the introduction of an alternative approach or style known as reportage. However, if done properly, child photography demands a good deal of creativity from the photographer and special sensitivities towards the ways in which younger children think and play. The very specialised niches within the overall field of social photography. As pets are part of the family, the rapidly growing area of pet photography could be included.
