ABSTRACT

Workflow pre-shoot is just another name for planning. As in the old adage ‘poor planning promotes poor performance’, the smooth running and successful outcome of the photographic workflow depends on the quality of the planning. The photographic workflow planning focuses more on the specifics of the technical process. To accurately control colour throughout the workflow, colour management systems need a profile of each device. Calibration is adjusting or re-adjusting a device or mechanism so it conforms to a known standard. The output of the calibration process, which entails photographing or scanning a known colour target, is a data file describing the performance of the camera or scanner, known as a profile. These profiles accurately describe the colour performance of an input or output device or attributes of a colour space and are usually produced according to the standards of the International Color Consortium.
