ABSTRACT

Images destined for the Web need to be treated in quite a different way than images headed for the print media or for fine-art printing. Images destined for the Web need a different profile from those commonly used by photographers. Some fine art printing requires - for best quality output-that the files are sent to the printer at a resolution of 360 pixels per inch. Sharpening is recommended that digital files are sharpened two, possibly three times throughout the workflow. The first being capture sharpening, the reader can then apply sharpening creatively and finally the reader should apply output sharpening. Files destined for different outputs need to be sharpened in different ways - even at the same print resolution, for instance, an ink-jet print on gloss paper can show more detail than one produced on fine-art paper.
