Photography - often in the past supported by texts - has now found an independence of communication that puts it on a level with textual narrative. If anything, it surpasses text in the speed with which it can deliver its message and in its inherent potential to globalise that message. Professional photographers are looking to produce images that have been constructed around a message, and to deliver them clearly and succinctly to the viewer. In some genres such as photojournalism a professional, paid-for photographic form the photographer's own message is the one conveyed, but is seen as appropriate for the chosen channel of publication by the publisher and editors. Creativity is like an organism that needs to be nurtured in order to grow and flourish.
