ABSTRACT

The Army, along with the other services, has a great deal to offer in a debate with other members of the community, and need not be too reticent in producing its ideas. In fact the services could probably lay claim to being one of the most up-to-date and well-run parts of the British community. Many officers continually complain about the way that the Army is run, but when they look at the way that most other organisations are conducted they begin to see the strength of their own. The officer not only has to live in an environment of discipline and control, but is also given the power to guide the lives and activities of other people. Therefore, he should at all times be stretched to make the best of himself, both to meet the demands of his superiors and to live up to the expectations of those subordinate to him.
