ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses what will Australia be like a hundred years from now. There is every reason to hope that Australia may, with time, become a great centre of art and music, and literature and the drama. There is no limit to the adventure that will be open to Australian men in the helicopter age. A great deal of education could be made much pleasanter than it is at present by teaching children things that they think worth knowing. Australians themselves will have discovered ways of protecting themselves against lethal emanations, so that they alone will be able to travel freely. In the unified world in which, while our kind of civilization persists, we must all live, Australia has certain important possibilities of leadership.
