This cheerful prospectus was published in the popular literary magazine John O’London’s Weekly, 60 (9 Nov. 1951): 706 (B&R C51.40). No reprints have been identified, although it was translated into Portuguese and Spanish for broadcast on the BBC’s Latin American Service. According to notes written on a BBC memorandum dated 19 November 1951, a broadcast to Brazil took place that New Year’s Eve while transmissions in Spanish aired on 3 January and 8 February 1952. Russell received payment of £10 for these uses of his published work. In requesting permission for these foreign-language broadcast rights, the BBC’s copyright department referred to Russell’s “articles” for John O’London’s Weekly in the plural. 35 was a stand-alone publication, however, rather than one in a series.
