ABSTRACT

Natural light is the best lighting for applying make-up. Typically, warm light is flattering on most people, but if our lighting is too warm while applying make-up, the peoples may mistakenly make choices based on the lighting temperature instead of the person's actual coloring. Color rendering index is a measurement used to determine the color accuracy of a light source. Portable ring-shaped lights are also available, and can provide light from every side of the face when positioned so the circle of light surrounds it. These can be very useful for applying our own make-up or for photographing a face, but keep in mind ring lights may not be effective when applying make-up to someone else. The spectral color wheel has a different order of colors from the traditional pigment-based color wheel. The complementary color pairs are still located across from one another, but take note of the differences when dealing with colored light.
