ABSTRACT
This chapter will problematise a priori disaggregation and provide an alternative, explorative approach to disaggregating homicide. This approach entails the novel use of a statistical technique called Multilevel Latent Class Analysis, which has never been used before in homicide research and will be explained in this chapter. The chapter will then present the findings of such an explorative disaggregation of homicide, including the description of different subtypes of homicide as well as how these types have changed over time.
