ABSTRACT

This chapter will take an in-depth approach to sexual homicide. This chapter will define sexual homicide as well as explain how sexual homicide differs from other types of homicide. Four different studies of sexual homicide will then be explored examining: sexual homicides compared to nonsexual homicides; sexual homicides committed by female offenders; sexual homicides committed against children; and subtypes of sexual homicides in Scotland compared with Canada. This will also place Scottish sexual homicides in an international context. The chapter will end with a brief overview of the theories explaining sexual homicide.
