ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the life changing moments of every day folks who have experienced an unexpected crisis or tragedy and somehow found ways to reset, recover and recharge to support their wellbeing. Gill found a way to take what she had learned from that tragic day to find a purpose for herself and others, changing peoples’ perspectives around the world about counter-terrorism, life, art and beyond. Gill Hicks urges others to stay focused on their success stories, repeating them over in the reader mind to not get caught in what still needs doing to take time to celebrate the wins. Gill is a beacon for courage, determination, compassion, hope and widespread positive change. Nick Lee also notes the support of a psychologist to navigate the overwhelming feeling of excruciating grief. He, naturally competitive, and back then perhaps expecting more of himself than was reasonable, recalls a turning point at the three-year mark of Jodi’s passing.
