ABSTRACT

The specificity of China’s politics determines the uniqueness of Chinese political communication. Especially since the beginning of reform and opening-up in the 1970s, China’s political practices have created a unique political civilization with Chinese characteristics. This is both a political experience of China and a valuable political practice for human beings. China’s current political system is different from that in Western countries; similarly, the features, status, and mechanism of the media differ from those of Western countries. Therefore, Western political theories are unlikely to explain Chinese problems and guide China’s political communication practice. This book adopts the “distance” concept from Western politics in order to study and analyze the rules and mechanisms of China’s political communication. For domestic readers, it aims to provide a different perspective to theorize China’s political communication practice. The book theorizes China’s political communication practice on the basis of a Western concept, which helps them to understand and learn about related issues concerning China’s political communication.
