ABSTRACT
Life experiences have a strong impact on our beliefs about capacity and disability. By embracing a “can-do” or growth mindset, teachers foster a drive in themselves and their students that will lead to success. The least dangerous assumption to be made about students with disabilities is that they are capable of more than we know. This conclusion briefly reviews the important steps that successful teachers follow to implement specially designed instruction, whether in inclusive or self-contained classrooms.
