ABSTRACT

SDI teams can include a wide variety of people who each bring different personalities, experiences, perspectives and skills. Their teaming is an active process that is impacted by what each individual team member brings to the classroom. Individual self-reflection can improve a team member’s contributions to the whole. As teams develop, they proceed through stages or gates, developing a clear purpose, norms and protocols for working together. Teams that are most effective at moving through these essential gates have a high level of social sensitivity, actively ensure that input is balanced and engage in courageous conversations.
