ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to explain how Uzbekistan internalizes energy development-related projects both domestically and explores the way it interacts with its international partners in its opening to the international community after the period of Karimov’s presidency. In doing so, this chapter first outlines the developmental model of Uzbekistan during the Karimov and Mirziyoyev presidencies. In the second section, this chapter outlines the main normative documents that not only guide energy-related development but also have an overwhelming impact on the general development and investments in Uzbekistan. Further, this chapter demonstrates the priorities in infrastructure development projects with Uzbekistan’s main international partners such as Russia, China, South Korea, and Japan. And the final section details the current energy-related projects undertaken in the country.
