ABSTRACT

Technological changes were already increasing the pace of change, and the global pandemic accelerated this type of change and threw social and political challenges into the mix. Consultants provide their models and methods that provide ‘the answer’ to the latest challenge. It’s easy, therefore, to forget what people mean when people talk about change. In simple terms, change is a move from the status quo. The dictionary definition gives people ‘replace something with something else that is newer or better’. In business terms, this can be anything from a process, software, business model, organisation structure, roles and so on to a complete pivot of a business identity. Helping teams cope with change starts with clarifying the type of change the team is working on or how they are affected by the change. Transitional change is where the implications for the tangible change start to emerge.
