ABSTRACT

This chapter is oriented to helping service providers make explicit their concerns related to the activity and participation patterns of individuals they serve and to engage these individuals in considering their own activity and participation patterns. The goal is to facilitate collaborative decision making related to the potential benefits of change and to secure investment in considering possible changes. There are six sections in this chapter: making appraisals of activity and participation patterns explicit; supporting personal consideration of current activity and participation patterns; collaborative evaluation of activity and participation patterns; considering the activity and participation patterns of people served by the program or service; tips for introducing the intervention approach; and key competencies.
