ABSTRACT

We review the facts revolving around the scandalous behavior emanating from the International UAW headquarters at Solidarity House, Region 5, which encompassed 17 western-located states, and luxury accommodations provided in Palm Springs and other resort areas. Top officials from the International UAW, plus high-ranking officers at Region 5, one of whom became International President in 2018, participated in activities to coax the International into subsidizing lavish lifestyles, which included paying for the rental of private villas for use by members of the IEB. These overt acts implicated two former presidents of the International and at least three former directors of Region 5 and the head of the Community Action Program (CAP) of the same region. Unlike the scandal at the NTC, this involved the use mainly of union dues funds through the International.
