ABSTRACT

Several leading news media in the U.S. and internationally have committed substantial resources to design innovative approaches to the production and distribution of digital journalism. Among these are The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time Inc., Gannett Co., including its flagship news platform USA Today, the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times, CBS News, and The Guardian. Chapter 5 examines their efforts and provides data-driven case studies in how these news media have developed and implemented the use of immersive media and artificial intelligence (A.I.) to adapt to the digitally disrupted media environment in which they now must operate.
