ABSTRACT
This chapter provides the background information about corruption and anti-corruption narratives of China since 1949. It first clarifies the definitions of the major terms in this study and justifies why I chose to study local governments' anti-corruption efforts. Following that, I present the study's plan and introduce its arrangement.
