ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines 437 cases of local integrity management innovations to change perceptions of China's corruption-fighting strategies in recent years by presenting general information on how local governments achieve their anti-corruption innovations efforts. The analytical framework of this study follows, i.e., the institutional void and institutional foundation of anti-corruption innovations, together with the theory and methods used to elaborate on China's innovative anti-corruption policymaking and implementation. I adopt an institutional void framework to make the general idea of “institutional foundation” feasible and distinct enough for readers to understand. “Institutional void” in this research refers to the lack of political, organizational, and social foundations for a new policy initiative.
