ABSTRACT

The Memorialist has devoted the last thirty years of his life to the study and practice of political economy; and, by permitting practice in all cases to correct theory, he has attained the most important results for the well-being of society. He therefore presents memorials on the subject to the Governments of Europe and America. In consequence of the numberless benefits which the knowledge thus acquired is calculated to give to the inhabitants of every country, the Memorialist is desirous of making it known, in the shortest time, to those who govern the civilised world, and to the public. To this day the means of consumption, or of obtaining the necessaries of life, by the working classes, have been acquired solely through the medium of their labour, the value of which the new power has already much diminished.
