ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author considers and discusses elements of single-session mindset and shows how the people can apply these elements to self-help to encourage them to get the most out of their self-helping efforts based on single-session therapy. Single-session therapists encourage their clients to utilize their strengths as a person to help them get the most out of their therapy sessions. The important point about the responsibility principle is that it helps the people to appreciate that while their environment, both past and present, may influence the people, it does not constrain them, and that the people can transcend situations by choosing how to respond to them. There are two types of goals that the people need to be concerned with as they address their problem(s). The first relates to the problem that the people have nominated for attention. The second is concerned with every session that the people have with themselves.
