ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author discusses what the people can do to prepare themselves to address their nominated problem(s). Setting a goal for their nominated problem before the people begin the self-help process involves the people having a clear idea of how they could handle situations in which the people have the problem differently. One of the best ways that the people can prepare themselves for self-help is to identify internal strengths that the people have as a person which they can bring to the process that will help the people to address their nominated problem(s) and achieve their goal(s). External resources are people, organizations and objects in their environment that may be helpful to the people as they address their nominated problems. In his therapy practice, the author have noticed that unless he encourage them to do so, his clients do not generally prepare for their therapy sessions.
