ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The books perspective is that continuous change is inevitable and that the best tactic, as Fullan suggests, is to face it head on but to do so in an informed fashion. It handles challenges and futures positively; educators can play an active role in ensuring education has a desirable impact, provided they come to grips with the real meaning of educational change and the most constructive ways of handling it as identified throughout the book. The book argues for a close and consistent link between learning program change and workplace change in education. It reviews the very values which Putnam and Cox identify at the societal level have been identified in the research on effective change in educational institutions. The book provides the tools which will enable educators to act on it.
